Back To Back?
One of my favorite movie quotes of all time is, “At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.” And if you aren’t familiar with this, you’re probably too young to be reading this blog. The quote is from “Billy Madison” staring Adam Sandler. This crossed my mind while watching that mess of a Steelers and Ravens game. All day, I was excited for 3:40 PM NFL football. Even woke up early to start work, so I can get off early and watch the game. It was so terrible that before halftime the game was essentially became background noise. So now that we survived that, let's see what helped us and hurt us this past weekend. Since we won, lets start with love:
Help
Raiders got stumped Atlanta- Boy was I mistaken about this game. I stacked my DFS team with Raiders players; mainly Derek Carr and Darren Waller. Carr and his butterfingers fumbled any chance I had at 1 million dollars. But, back to why we are here. The AFC is extremely tight right now, so anytime a NFC team can knock an AFC team down, let's hope for it.
Hurt
As always, at 8-3 and being in the driver seat to win the division, there isn’t much that can “Hurt” the Bills, but here we go:
Unnecessary win in the division- As expected, the Miami Dolphins thrashed the New York Jets 20-3. But in true Belichick fashion, they upset Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. Even though they aren’t a threat in the division, we all hate an annoying gnat.
Im sick of Doug Marrone- For once in our lives, can Doug Marrone do something useful? I thought him and the Jags were going to do us a favor and defeat the Cleveland Browns. But in true Doug Marrone fashion, he made me look like an ass once again. After the firing of Dave Caldwell and Mike Glennon being your starting QB, it’s only a matter of time before he is sent packing.
Jockeying for position- The Tennessee Titans beat up on the Indianapolis Colts 45-26. This is bad for the Buffalo Bills because we lost to the Titans. If we end with the same record (like we currently have), then Tennessee will be the higher seed. And right now, the difference is huge in being the 3 seed or 4 seed, because it may determine if you play Pittsburgh or Kansas City. Which leads me to my final point…
Back-to-Back?- This is not a reference to the Drake diss song to Meek Mill. This is about another light skin assassin. And let me bring it in with a hot take: Patrick Mahomes is the best QB of all time. There I said it so you wouldn’t have to. Call me crazy in public, but in private, you were thinking it too. Every box is checked. Put him on a white board against Peyton Manning and he will hold his own. Put him in a pressure situation vs Brady and I like my chances. Got a radar gun? I’ll pay to see him vs prime Brett Favre. And his legs may not be Lamar Jackson or Mike Vick, but if you let him escape the pocket, don’t be surprise if he ends a game with 70 yards rushing. With him playing this way, I don’t see who in the NFL beats them. So maybe I am a little earlier in saying this, but let’s revisit it in 2-3 years and see how it’s going.
If the Playoffs started today..
Nothing here has changed with playoff position. (4) Buffalo Bills would play (5) Cleveland Browns. And after struggling against the awful Doug Marrone led Jacksonville Jaguars, I feel even more confident in this match up. I would love to see Baker Mayfield vs the Bills defense. With the aggressive style Leslie Frazier has employed, Baker would be extremely frustrated, and turnover happy. Divisional round here we come!
Alright, I’m out y’all. ✌🏽
