Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots: Hello, Darkness my Old Friend.

Mike D: Overdue Bills Senior Writer

What’s up everybody. Hopefully, you had a great Thanksgiving. I myself had a fantastic time. Nothing is better for the soul than some home cooking and a Bills victory. The last time we saw the Bills, they were molly whopping the Saints 31-6. Josh looked good, getting Zach Moss out of the lineup and putting Breida in helped the running game, and the defense was stout. Everyone will need to be on their A-game today, as they try to defeat a red-hot New England Patriots who are going for their 7th win in a row. And they will be a man short, as their best defender Tre White is out for the season with an ACL tear. Let’s get into what this game means, and how they win this game.

Let’s be honest, we didn’t think we would be here so soon. With the departure of Tom Brady, and how terrible New England was last year, we thought we would have the division locked up for a couple of years. The sudden emergence of rookie QB Mac Jones, or MJ10, has significantly cut down that time. Early in the season, he was just managing the games, but now he is making plays that make a difference in the outcome. Give the evil genius Belichick a QB who won’t hurt them (like Cam did last year), he will find a way to win football games. Especially since he has a defensive unit that is arguably one of the best in the league. If the Bills are going to win, we are going to need some players to step up.

As always, everything starts and stops with Josh Allen. If he plays well, we win, if he doesn’t, we don’t. It’s that simple. Going against a Bill Belichick defense is tough, because he confuses QB’s. He also takes away your #1 option, and forces you to beat them with #2 and #3 options. Assuming he focuses on Stefon Diggs, this means Sanders, Beasley or Knox will have to step up. But I don’t abide by this thinking. Just because you try to take away my first option, it doesn’t mean I just shy away from him Just the contrary. I need Brian Daboll to figure out a way to get Diggs the ball. If this means moving him around, putting him in the slot, or giving him a reverse, then that’s what we have to do. But just to look away from your best player is playing right into their hands.

Buffalo has a nasty pattern of winning a game and then losing a game. This will be the perfect time to break that streak, and start a run. With the Baltimore Ravens losing yesterday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, all the top teams now have 4 loses. Getting this victory will keep Buffalo in the running for the #1 seed, and have a game lead in the division. Besides the standings, a victory will be good for our psyche. I am not ready for the possibility that the AFC East is now a division where we will have to battle with the Patriots. Getting a resounding win on Monday Night Football, with the Manning brothers doing the game, will be a nice feather in the cap. See everyone on social media tonight.
