Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins week 8: Rest, relaxation, and rumination.

What’s up, everyone. Hopefully, your bye week was as good as mine. Though I do not play for the team, writing a weekly article and doing my car chronicles (check out my IG) can be exhausting. And if you are a season ticket holder like our guy Matty Ice, tailgating for every home game, or hosting at your house for away games, that can also be tiring. So I know since I was tired, and I know you are tired, that means the team was extremely worn out. While their bodies were able to rest, I know their minds were ruminating all last week. The loss against Tennessee came in a devastating fashion. 1 yard away from a first down, and 3 yards away from winning the game. A loss like this can tear a team apart, but if McDermott is who will think he is, this should elevate our team.

As part of my Graduate School class, we are reading a book called “The Culture Club: The Secretes of Highly Successful People” by Daniels Coyle. In the book, he discusses some of the best organizations, and what makes them successful. One sports team he studied was the San Antonio Spurs, and their coach Grep Popovich. He discussed the devasting loss vs the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Finals. They had dinner reservations to celebrate being NBA champions just in case they won, but we all know how it ended. The team was so distraught, nobody said a word in the locker room. People assumed the reservations would be canceled, but they were surprised when Coach said “See everyone at the restaurant.” Once there, Pop walked around shaking everyone's hand and pouring love into them. Before you know it, everyone was laughing having a good time, focused on game 7.

This is what good leaders do. They make sure their followers are good before themselves. Luckily, I believe we have one of the best coaches in the NFL. Last year, we went into the bye with a terrible loss. It fell victim to the “Hail Murry”. That was a moment where we could have folded altogether. But we didn’t. We went undefeated until the AFC Championship game. In my opinion, that is due to McDermott’s leadership and being able to get the team focused on the future, not the past.

We are playing Miami on Halloween, and trust me, it will definitely be spooky for them. After the loss to the Cardinals last year, we beat the next 6 teams by at least double digits. I expect us to come out and make a statement vs Miami, and to the rest of the league. While we were on a bye, yall fell in love with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Well, we are about to remind everyone who is really the best team in the NFL!
