Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars Week 9: Same Owners, Different Results.

Happy Friday everybody. We made it through another Buffalo Bills Football week. Luckily, the Bills is much better than the Sabres. For the team to be owners by the same people, the outcomes could not be more night and day. This reared its ugly head this week when the Eichel trade finally happened. Whether you agree or disagree with the trade, we all agree that it was poorly handled. Let us talk about the differences between the two organizations.

We thought we had two cornerstone pieces on our teams. Josh is the QB, Jack’s the first-line center. These can be deemed the most important positions in their respective sports. Only the Bills treated this as such. They made it their personal business to get the talent around Josh Allen to be a perfect fit for him. Initially, we tried to roll our Kelvin Benjamin, Andre Holmes, and Zay Jones. We drafted bigger WRs because we thought that is what Josh needed. The team quickly realized that he needed smaller receivers who can separate. This led them to go to get Jon Brown and Cole Beasley. And why this was better, it was not good enough. They tried to trade for Antonio Brown but ended up getting Steph Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders.

If you look at the Sabres, they weren’t moving with much urgency. Every year, they would just keep rolling out Kyle Okposo and Rasmus Ristolainen. The Sabres never went all the way in. They stayed with coaches who were terrible for way too long. Mcdermott fired Rick Dennison after one year because he wasn’t good enough. The Sabres held on to Phil Housley and Ralph Kruger way too long in my opinion. This wasted valuable time and ultimately ended up with nothing to show for it.

We have this game vs Jacksonville on Sunday, and I am not remotely worried about it. I believe it is a Lose-Lose for Buffalo. If you win, who cares, and if you only win by a couple of points or lose, then people are questioning how good you are. But this is where you want to be. You want to have high expectations of your sports team. The Bills have been exceeding those expectations for years now. On the other hand, you’re happy if the Sabres score 4 goals in a loss. So enjoy this era of the Bills, because the Sabres are a constant reminder of how inept our sports lives can be.
